The Clone Course feature allows you to clone an existing course in order to create a new course. The new course will have all of the same course settings and customizations of the course that you cloned. This feature is available for all Virtual Business, Virtual Healthcare and Virtual Business Collaboration simulations.
Note: When a course is cloned NO student information is transferred to the new course. Additionally, courses linked to expired licenses and trial versions of a course CANNOT be cloned.
There are two ways that a course can be cloned, instructions for both methods are below:
Method #1:
1. Log into your instructor account.
2. From the "Your Courses" page, select the link for the course that you wish to configure.
3. Select the Clone Course button on the Course Details page.
4. You will then be prompted to enter a Course Name and Course End Date for the new course.
5. Click the Submit button to create the new course. The system will then display the new course information
including the new Course Key.
Method #2:
1. Log into your instructor account.
2. From the "Your Courses" page, click the +Add a New Course button. You will now be presented with the
Course Setup page.
3. From the pull-down menu under "Add a new course for" select the Create from an existing course option.
4. The Choose from previous course pull-down menu will now appear. This menu will display the Course Key
for all courses that can be cloned. Select the Course Key for the course that you wish to clone.
5. Complete the rest of the Course Setup page as follows:
- Usage: Select either Main Curriculum or Supplemental
- Main Curriculum - Select if the Virtual Business will be your primary curriculum for the course. By default all quizzes (reading & math) along with the simulations will automatically be turned on.
- Supplemental - Select this option if you will be using the Virtual Business to supplement existing curriculum. For example, you are teaching an Accounting course with an existing curriculum, but you would like to use the simulations to reinforce the material within that curriculum. By default all quizzes will be disabled and only the simulations will be turned on.
Note: Regardless of which option you choose, you have the ability to enable/disable quizzes once the course has been created.
- Prevent student enrollment into Knowledge Matters LMS: If you will be requiring that your students access the course via an external LMS (Canvas, Schoology, Moodle, etc..), then select Yes. If your students will be accessing the course via Knowledge Matters, i.e. by going to vb.knowledgematters.com, then select No.
- Course End Date - Enter the date that the course will end. Knowledge Matters recommends entering a date several days past when you think the course will end to allow for extra time to complete the lessons.
- Course Name - Enter a unique name to identify the course. For example, Personal Finance - Period 1, Personal Finance - Period 2, etc...
Once you have filled out all fields, click the Submit button to create your course. Your new course will now appear under "Your Courses" on your Instructor home page.
